Summer is the busiest stretch of the year for short-stay hosts in Perth and along the coast, and guests start comparing places to stay well before December. If your listing photos were taken on a phone, or a few summers ago, October is the time to fix them. This Airbnb photo checklist for Perth hosts covers the five shots every listing needs, how to get your property ready, and an Airbnb offer that takes A$75 off a professional shoot booked this month.
The five shots every Airbnb listing needs
- The hero room. One photo does most of the selling: the room that makes a guest stop scrolling. It is usually the main living space or the room with the view, and it should be the first image in your gallery.
- Every bedroom. Guests count beds before they read a word. Show each bedroom from the doorway so the size of the room and the bed are both clear.
- The kitchen. Families and longer stays look here first. Clear benches, a clean splashback and good light matter more than expensive appliances.
- The view or the outdoor space. A balcony, a courtyard or a deck is a reason to book in a Perth summer. Photograph it at the time of day it looks best, with the table set.
- One styled detail. A bedside lamp, a shelf, a coffee corner. Details tell guests the place is cared for, and they break up a gallery of wide shots.

How to prepare your property the day before
A shoot goes faster, and the photos look better, when the property is ready before the photographer arrives.
- Clear kitchen benches, bathroom vanities and bedside tables of everything a guest would not find on arrival.
- Make every bed with fresh, pressed linen.
- Open blinds and curtains, and replace any blown light globes.
- Put away bins, cords, cleaning products and personal items.
- Set the outdoor table and straighten the cushions.
- Move cars away from the front of the property.
What a professional shoot adds
A phone records a room. A professional shoot shows what it feels like to stay there. That means choosing the time of day for each space, keeping walls and door frames straight in wide shots, balancing bright windows against darker interiors, and editing the whole gallery so it reads as one home.
It also means thinking like a guest. I draw on hospitality training and 17 years behind the camera to work out what a guest wants to know about a place, then make sure the photos answer it.

October offer: A$75 off through Airbnb
My photography service is listed on Airbnb, and this month Airbnb is running a coupon for it. Enter the code OCTSERVICE75 at checkout to take A$75 off any booking over A$150.
- The Essential Collection: A$400, or A$325 with the code.
- 24-Hour Atmospheric Immersion: A$850, or A$775 with the code.
The booking has to be made by 31 October 2026, but the shoot itself can take place after that date. There is one coupon per person, it cannot be combined with other offers, and the number of coupons is limited, so it may end before the 31st. Airbnb’s Coupon Terms apply.
